Why We Use Biomimetic and Autogenous, Non-Cadaver Bone Grafts for Safer, Natural Healing

At our practice, we believe that everything placed in the body should be safe, biocompatible, and support natural healing. That philosophy guides every aspect of our care, from preventive dentistry to advanced oral surgery. When bone grafting is needed, we take a modern, biologically mindful approach by using either an autogenous bone graft, made from the patient’s own bone, or a biomimetic bone graft made from tricalcium phosphate — rather than cadaver bone. This simple but important choice reflects our commitment to our patients’ long-term health, comfort, and peace of mind.

Bone grafting is sometimes necessary when a tooth is removed or when bone has been lost due to infection, gum disease, or trauma. Traditionally, many dental practices have relied on graft materials derived from human donors, known as cadaver bone, or from animal sources. While these materials can help stimulate bone growth, they also introduce foreign biological material into the body. Even though they are processed and sterilized, some patients are uncomfortable with the idea of donor or animal tissue, and others prefer to avoid it for ethical or health reasons.

Our office uses a fully synthetic, non-cadaver bone graft made from tricalcium phosphate, a mineral compound that closely mimics the natural composition of human bone. This biomimetic material provides a stable framework that allows your own bone cells to grow, remodel, and eventually replace it completely. As healing progresses, the tricalcium phosphate dissolves naturally, leaving behind only your body’s healthy bone.

We often enhance the grafting process with platelet-rich fibrin, or PRF, prepared in-office using a PRF centrifuge. PRF is created from your own blood and contains natural growth factors that accelerate healing and reduce inflammation. When used with a biomimetic tricalcium phosphate graft, it creates an ideal environment for fast, clean, and complete bone regeneration.

Using biomimetic materials reflects our broader philosophy: dentistry should support the body’s natural biology, not challenge it. Our patients appreciate knowing that the bone grafts we use are synthetic, sterile, and designed to integrate predictably with their own bone. It’s a cleaner, safer, and more ethical approach that aligns with our holistic values.

That same philosophy extends to everything we do. From 3D CBCT imaging and Fotona dental lasers to ceramic implants and an in-house lab for same-day restorations, we combine advanced technology with a deep respect for natural healing. Every decision we make is guided by one goal—to provide dental care that is precise, minimally invasive, and fully aligned with your overall well-being.
